2019 Earth Day in Cohasset

Cohasset has some exciting activities planned for this year’s Earth Day! Residents who are interested in learning more and giving back will have a entire month of great events to choose from.

“Hate Ticks?” - Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:30 p.m.

This lecture at Wilcutt Commons (91 Sohier Street) will educate residents on the different species of ticks in Cohasset and where they are most active.

“Changes in Birds and Mammals Over Time” - Sunday, April 7th at 3 p.m.

Nationally known naturalist and author of “Audubon Field Guide to New England,” Peter Alden, will present on the changes New England’s environment has experienced since pre-colonial times. This talk will take place at the Cohasset Library (35 Ripley Road).

“Climate Change, Wildlife Loss and Human Health: Exploring the Past for Better Future” - Sunday, April 28th at 3 p.m.

Harvard University historian, climate scientist and explorer Alexander More will discuss the connection between the health of people and of wildlife and promises a journey from the South Shore to the Great Barrier Reef “through history, climate change and the science and exploration that connect us with the environment that is vital for our lives.” This event will be held at Wilcutt Commons (91 Sohier Street).

“The State of the Harbor” - Thursday, May 2nd at 7 p.m.

Cohasset resident Susan Bryant (of the Cohasset Center for Student Coastal Research) will lead this final Earth Day event, focused on the health of our own harbor. This event will take place at the Cohasset Sailing Club (19 Lighthouse Lane).

Town Wide Clean-up Day - Saturday, April 27th from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Give back to the town by joining in on this town-wide clean-up day at 12 different sites throughout town. Sites include the Village, the Common, the Aaron River Dam area, Wheelwright Park and Government Island.
